  • We understand why different types of facilities require special pest management considerations.
  • We understand the federal and state laws that affect pest management in food-handling and other specialized facilities.
  • We know which areas to inspect for proper sanitation in food-handling establishments.
  • We know which type of treatments can be applied to food and non-food areas.
  • We know which types of facilities require specialized integrated pest management (IPM) programs.
  • We know the key pests and the specialized pest management techniques required for each type of facility.
  • We understand the importance of on-going communication, monitoring, record keeping, and follow-up when managing pests in specialized facilities.
  • We also appreciate that Pest management in food-handling and other specialized facilities requires special consideration because of:
    • The types of pest problems involved.
    • Certain unusual medical or aesthetic requirements.
    • Unique structural features of the facilities.
    • Presence of very favorable conditions for pests because of the type of work or operation involved.
    • Limitations of what pest management techniques can be used.
  • In all our pest management situations, we are critical to be familiar with the state laws and regulations governing pesticide use and to follow pesticide label directions precisely. A properly designed pest management program must include the basic steps of inspection, treatment (or application of pest management procedures), communication, and continual follow-up.

We engage in integrated pest control which follows the steps below;

Integrated pest management (IPM)
We will apply the Integrated pest management (IPM) as a strategy to safely and economically manage pest populations through a well-balanced combination of control practices. We will determine for the small caterer a pest control program by determining which activities will best control each pest most effectively.

  1. Inspection (monitoring) — Thorough inspection of the entire plant by an expert to objectively identify pest problems is recommended. A written analysis will be provided, with details on problem areas within the clients premises. Inspections will be conducted at a predetermined frequency. Even for a small caterer and hotel, it will be cost-effective to hire Jannakill pest management specialists.
  2. Physical control — A standard of cleanliness must be established, with direct accountability for cleaning. This will include all areas inside and around the outside of the facility. Exclusion practices combined with routine inspection and repair restrict the ability of pests to enter and move from place to place in the premises. Some examples of these practices would be proper landscaping, adequate door seals, no entrances from outside directly into the processing area, and proper placement of dumpsters. We have a wide variety of methods for physical control.
  3. Mechanical control —These will be nonchemical means that stop pests or prevent infestations. We have several means of achieving this.
  4. Chemical control — IPM does not eliminate the need for pesticides, and they should be used when necessary. Only trained personnel should apply pesticides. Application of restricted-use pesticides requires certification, and it may be practical to hire Jannakill professional pest exterminators. Once we have identified the methods of control, they will be written down in a concise program with specific instructions, frequency of monitoring, responsible persons, monitoring activities, and reassessment. The program will be available for viewing by Government of Local council food establishment inspectors.
  5. Verification of the pest control program

We will effect a validation documentation that ensures the instituted procedures are effective. Often, manufacturers of pest control products provide documentation of the effectiveness of their products. This is evidence that the procedures in the program are effective. The pest controls will also be verified by evaluating data collected on pest numbers and frequencies and by visual checks of the premises.
