WHY DO WE DO TERMITE CONTROL?
Termite control is a vastly important industry, with these pests causing billions of dollars in damage each year. A termite feeds mostly on wood, but can also get into paper, books, insulation, and other areas of the home. Termites can harm living trees, but they more commonly attack woody plants that are already in decline. Besides the obvious economic damage it causes, an infestation can also be a significant emotional strain. For this reason, termite control is essential. And since it is so complex and difficult a task, getting to these pests and eradicating them from a home is normally a task best left to trained experts in the field. We do belief that when it comes to doing this job we are the best because;
- Our company offers a guarantee, and make sure you understand the terms and conditions and how long the guarantee is offered.
- Has a good reputation in the market which is a good indicator of good service. See if complaints have been filed against the company.
- In the area of termite pest control, our commitment to further education is important, particularly with the newer termite control techniques on the market.
WHEN DO WE DO TERMITE CONTROL?
- Many people think that a annual contract means that Jannakill Pest Solution re-treats your house every year. But this is not the case, unless there is evidence of termite activity.
- Jannakill Pest Solution provides an annual termite inspection of your home in the annual contract. If you or the company find evidence of termite activity, (and you are under contract) then the company is liable for termite treatments.
- In most cases, the termite treatment on your house or commercial building carries a one-year guarantee from the pest control company. After the year ends, and the contract is up for renewal. It is always a question of a need to renew the contract or not.
- The cost of a renewal typically depends on the size and construction of the house.
- If you are planning to sell your home within a couple of years, a contract would be advisable. It will include a clearance letter for mortgage companies in the event of a sale. If termites are discovered at this time of inspection, the pest control company is liable for termite treatments.
- If you are not selling your home in a few years and you feel comfortable doing Home inspections, you wouldn't need the annual contract. However, upon finding evidences of termites, you would need to either do your own termite treatment or look for a termite service company at this point. It is important at this time to consider Jannakill Pest Solution because they have a better history of the termite infestations in your building.
- Termites are always around us, but that fact does not mean they are constantly attacking your house. It simply means that there is always a chance that termites could find their way into the house. A good monitoring tool is putting out Termite Bait Stations which Jannakill Pest Solution is good at.
- Modern termiticides remain active in the soil for at least five years, but this is not a guarantee that termites will not invade your house. If they do invade earlier than that then we need to retreat the building otherwise this can be done after the five years.
- A number of factors, including disturbance of the treated soil, can affect the chemical barrier and allow termites opportunities to enter. This would call for treatment of the termites
Jannakill Pest Solution provides the following termite control services;
- General Termite control
- Pre-construction Termite control
- Post-Construction Termite control
At Jannakill Pest Solution, we belief in the old adage of “an ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure”, especially when it comes to building a home and preventing termites. While it is nearly impossible to prevent anything from happening one hundred percent, pre-treating the area where your home is to be constructed or where an addition is to be built, can drastically increase your chances of remaining free of termites.
The goal of pre-construction termite treatments is to form a chemical barrier in the ground that will keep subterranean termites from coming up from the soil to feed on the wood structures.
Soil treatment – Application of termiticide
In order to properly treat for termites during pre-construction, the area will need to have termiticides applied several times at different stages. The Jannakill Pest Solution will need to be in close contact with the builder in order to accurately arrange treatments. The design of the home and the type of soil it is being built upon may cause some variation in the application of the barrier.
While methods can vary a bit depending on the building codes for the specific area, the first step for pre-construction termite treatment is usually to treat the slab. Once the land has been graded, the foundation form has been installed, and the footings have been dug, the area should be treated. This is usually done by treating with a termiticide barrier at a predetermined rate of application.
While termites cannot bore into or eat concrete, the slabs can crack with time creating perfect entry points for them. If the surrounding soil has not been treated, the termites can make their way to the slabs, through the cracks, and into the main structure.
Final preconstruction treatment
The final pre-construction treatment comes with the last grading, but prior to the landscaping. It is recommended that a trench be dug and a termicide applied at a predetermined rate.
Rodding treatment
A more extensive pre-construction treatment can also be done in place of or in addition to the above mentioned spray method. This type of treatment is known as “rodding” and is carried out by injecting a permethrin based termiticide gel deep into the ground.
Traditional spray methods only allow the termiticide to penetrate about one inch into the ground. Rodding uses a metal pole that ranges from four to six feet in length, and is filled with the termiticide. The top of the pole has a knob that keeps the pole pressurized. The pole is repeatedly pushed into and pulled out of the ground to remove the soil, leaving behind deep holes. This is done until a grid pattern of holes is formed. The holes are then injected with the termiticide gel in order to keep termites away from the area.
How does Termite Reticulation System work?
Before you build your dream home, Jannakill Pest Solution can install one of the best termite protection systems currently on the market - a Termite Reticulation System.
We are able to install a Termite Reticulation System under a concrete slab floor prior to building your home and we can also install this system around the perimeter of your home.
This is a simple, yet highly effective system designed to treat and re-treat your house and perimeter foundations to protect against infestation by termites, this is to prevent them entering from the outside of the building.
It is a flexible system that uses pipes which have emitters fabricated into the pipe. These emitters distribute chemical evenly at measured rate.
Chemical levels are topped up every 3-5 years to maintain effectiveness, although it is imperative to have yearly termite inspections in order to monitor your home.
In some cases where, prior to construction, no proper chemical treatment was done, subterranean termites may start surfacing. Subterranean termites can maneuver through the ground and migrate from house to house; in their quest for food, they will travel up and cause damages to parquet skirtings, floors, doorframes, and even roof structures. Post Construction treatment is suitable for buildings that are already up and completed.
While it is not possible to lay a complete chemical barrier under the building; Jannakill Pest Solution can create chemical barriers at entry points along perimeter walls, near water pipes and other strategic locations where the subterranean termites are likely to enter the buildings.
Jannakill Pests Solution Post-construction treatment or corrective treatment begins with the technician conducting a thorough inspection of the premises to determine the location of the subterranean termite infestation; followed by usage of appropriate termite control methods in these established locations. Subsequently, it may involve creating entry points in the flooring for the application of liquid termiticide into the ground, after determining the right locations.
The non-repellent termiticide applied slowly kills the subterranean termites by affecting their central nervous system. When termites enter the treated soil, they pick up doses of the active ingredient and return to the nest. Over the following days, other termites are affected through contact. The best results for the corrective treatment are attained through the proper understanding and application by trained Jannakill Pests Solution Technicians.
